Greetings from the Mayor

Welcome to the City of Wilmington, Ohio!

Greetings from Wilmington, in the heart of Southwest Ohio. The City of Wilmington is blessed with a great location, beautiful surroundings and an extraordinary citizenry. This community is blessed with land, water, job-ready sites, a prime location and a sizeable workforce with an excellent work ethic.

Wilmington is a small town with a family focus and we strive to offer activities and entertainment for all ages.  Many of our youth are involved in all levels of sports, recreation, the arts, 4-H, the YMCA programs and many other outdoor pursuits.

Nestled almost exactly in the middle of the golden triangle between Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus; living in Wilmington is affordable. This allows our residents to enjoy the "big city" amenities that are available in the neighboring big cities: The Cincinnati Reds, Dayton Dragons or Columbus Clippers baseball game, the ballet or symphony, a visit to a museum or dining at nearby world class restaurants.

Meanwhile, right here at home you will have an extraordinary experience of theatre at the Wilmington College, Wilmington Community Summer Theatre, Wilmington High School theater programs, or a myriad of entertainment choices at the historic Murphy Theatre. Throughout the year you will find educational opportunities, sports, music and children's theatre, art shows, public events and lectures. Outstanding dining and shopping experiences and much, much more await you in Wilmington.

The community is rich with educational opportunities starting with numerous pre-school programs. Wilmington City Schools' three elementary schools, the middle school and high school offer award-winning opportunities. A great option for career minded students is the Great Oaks Career Development campus.

A two-year degree is available from Southern State Community College, preparing students for advancement into numerous careers, such as the healthcare field, or preparing them for a four-year college experience, such as that which they will experience at Wilmington College.

We welcome businesses of all types and sizes to locate here. The Wilmington Air Park, under the direction of the local port authority, is a prime aviation and business development location. Home to Air Transportation Services Group (ATSG), the Air Park can land any sized aircraft on her twin runways.

In addition to our other economic development activities, we have a certified 282-acre site that is shovel-ready for companies in the food processing and beverage industries. The official designation makes the Wilmington site the largest such place in Ohio - big enough to become an industrial park, with space for a dozen companies. Wilmington is also the first community in the nation to achieve the designation of  Green Enterprise Zone (GEZ).

I invite you to visit Wilmington soon.  Explore our parks, lakes and trails.  Enjoy a show at the Murphy Theatre and dinner out. Talk to our visitor's bureau about the abundance of festivals, fairs and things to see and do in our area.

Consider starting a business here. You will find that people here "don't know a stranger."  So when you come to Wilmington, come as a friend. You may very well want to stay and become a neighbor.

Warmest regards,

Randy Riley
Mayor
